Click here for the latest 2018 NASCAR camping world truck series news announcing the sponsors for driver Jeb Burton!

After a two year hiatus,, Jeb Burton made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series return at Martinsville, VA last year. This year he was back again teaming up with Nexhaul trailers as a sponsor.

He drove the number 30 Tundra for the new racing team On Point Motorsports. Nexhaul proudly sponsored him in the Martinsville race alongside their primary sponsor Strutmasters.com.

The 2018 NASCAR camping world truck series at Martinsville proved to be a challenge for the team though with Burton coming in 15th.

Jeb Burton’s Career

Originally from Halifax, VA, Burton has car racing in his blood as he is from the well known Burton family. He is the son of Ward Burton and the nephew of Jeff Burton. He is best known for his career as an American professional stock car driver.

Though he also competes part-time in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Burton first began racing in the Camping World Truck series in 2012 at the age of 19. He started in 5 of the 22 races that season.

The following year and the year after that he competed in all 22 races of each season but only achieved 1 win. Then in 2015 he backed off to part-time and raced only 1 of the 23 races in the series that season.

He was back racing in the series in 2017, again only showing in 1 of the 23 races. For both the 2017 and 2018 season, he raced in his hometown track of Martinsville. This is a favorite of Burton’s as he historically has performed well on this track.

Over his 6 year history in the series, he has logged just 1 win.

Martinsville Track

Also known as the “Half Mile of Mayhem” and “The Paperclip” the track at Martinsville was one of the first paved oval tracks of NASCAR. Being built in 1947, it is the only race track that has been a part of the NASCAR circuit since its formation in 1948.

It also has the distinction of being the only NASCAR oval track to have concrete turns and asphalt straightaways. The track provides a challenge to drivers with shallow 12-degree turns.

Drivers gain top speeds on the long straightaways then are forced to brake hard going into the turns. Then they must have smooth acceleration coming out of the turns to maintain momentum and position within the pack.

Up until 1999 Martinsville and Bristol were known as the tracks with two pit roads. This required strategy and planning for teams as they entered pit row during a caution. Thankfully this got rectified in 1999 leaving Bristol as the only two pit row track.

About On Point Motorsports

This was On Point Motorsports fourth start in the truck series. Their team has posted an impressive showing so far in their first three races.

They were hoping for a strong finish at Martinsville but Burton ultimately came in 15th.. This was due to a lack of opportunity for practice time.

The team’s number 30 truck is driven part-time by Jeb Burton, Austin Theriault, and Scott Lagasse.

The organization of On Point Motorsports is led by a veteran of NASCAR Steven “Bones” Lane. It’s based out of a facility in Denver, North Carolina.
